Product Review: New Balance “Minimus”

As an avid runner, I am always experimenting with different shoes.  I’ve ranged from cross-country shoes, track shoes, cross training shoes, to trail shoes.  I’ve gone from very padded shoes, to not so very padded shoes, but I had yet to find my perfect running shoe.  Then I heard about the New Balance “Minimus” shoes.

Oakley Jawbone Review

Howdy, fellow active Austinites! It’s time for another product review that will help you choose the perfect active eyewear. Over a year and a half ago, I purchased a pair of Oakley Jawbone sunglasses from Ozone Bike Dept. to replace my aged Oakley Radars. I’m heavy into mountain biking, and in Austin with all the cedar branches protruding into the trails it’s a good idea to always wear sports glasses to protect them eyeballs from being kabobed. I once saw that happen, but that’s another story. Trust me though; you don’t want that to happen to you!

VivoBarefoot Achilles Product Review

Given the option, I would rather go barefoot.  That being said, there are times where the lack of footwear is either frowned upon or down right uncomfortable.  For instance, while I have tough feet I would neither stand on black asphalt in the middle of July for any extended amount of time nor would I attempt to get through the door of Ruth Chris without shoes.

Workout 3: Running at the Shoal Creek Greenbelt

Here’s an update for those of you who are too lazy to go read my past two blogs. I’m new to the Active ATX team and a first time blogger. (Is one of the rules of blogging “never insult your audience in the first line”?) I apologize. Anyway, I’ve been exploring some of Austin’s unique places to work out! I started on Wednesday, June 1st and have until Tuesday, June 14th to complete 5 activities within the 14 day challenge! Today is day 10 and I just completed workout #3. That leaves 4 more days and 2 more workouts to go. I think I can do it!

If you’re working full time and trying to save money, it can feel impossible to stay in shape. Gym memberships cost way more than potato chips, and most boot camps take place during regular business hours. What’s a working Austinite to do?
