An update from the Rogue El Sendero 25K last Saturday at Reveille Peak Ranch on my hydration solution experiment. I mixed myself a bottle of Clif Electrolyte with 2x as much powder as directed and then added a bottle of Zico Coconut Water (Natural flavor). I sipped on this and added water to it at the aid stations. Additionally, I ate a pack of Margarita flavored Clif Shot Bloks as that flavor has 3x the sodium as any other flavor. I mixed in Clif Shots. And guess what.... NO cramping at all! No trip to the Expedition School medical tent. And I was able to do the worm across the finish line without my legs go into a crazy spasm. Granted it was only about 55 out so heat was not a factor but I feel like I am onto getting a perfect mix.

I will be trying out a sweet Salomon XT Advanced Skin Slab 5 Set Hydration pack SOON to carry my personalized hydration solution! Look for the review. Big thanks to Koby, the local Salomon authority for getting us some gear to test.
Cannot wait.
Stay tuned.
I have a long training run this weekend and I will NOT dehydrate.
I am Acitve ATX.

A brief diary entry from the first time ultra marathon trail runner..had what my coach, Carrie Barrett (FOMO Training) would call a breakthrough run today!

I hit the Canyonlands Trail in Lakeway this morning after dropping my first grader off at school. Air was crisp --ok air was cold! Sun was shining bright. Took in a Citrus Clif Shot and a Natural Zico Coconut Water. Put on the pair of Altra Zero Drop Eve minimalist shoes I am testing and took off. I think I might have skipped the first few steps. I was stoked to get in a tough, technical 5.75 mile run. Had a lot on my mind and wanted to take it to the trail for a good solid training run. Ended up running faster than I have been running lately. I saw a HUGE buck and a silver fox being chased by my friend Whitney's dog, Tate. Heard water rushing in a creek and felt the soft fall leaves under my feet. THIS is what my 50k training is about. Finding challenge, fitness and peace all in one epic run. Love it and am getting psyched for my 20 mile training run on Saturday. Hoping to do a 20 mile Town Lake/Barton Creek Greenbelt tour.
Full review coming soon of the Altra Zero Drop Eve shoes. Stay tuned.

And go find a trail..walk. hike. jog. run. Be Active and love it!
